Modern, timeless design seamlessly integrates new housing into an industrial historic district.

CHALLENGE

The Minneapolis Warehouse District, which has become a popular residential and commercial neighborhood, conveys the early industrial history that was key to the City’s development. The original design of the district - which served wholesaling warehouses and railroad distribution - presents challenges for today’s pedestrians and residents.

SUCCESS

New History worked with the award-winning design team at Snow Kreilich to create a design for new multi-family housing and ground–level retail in the historic district that both honored history while responding to today’s urban and residential needs. The project integrates durable, timeless materials - like dark brick and stone - to create a contemporary building and courtyard that complement the district.
