IRVINE PARK

Strategic planning for the future of a historic park

Strategic planning provides actionable next steps to maintain the viability of a historic resource.

CHALLENGE

Located in the center of the locally, state, and nationally-designated Irvine Park Historic District adjacent to downtown Saint Paul, Irvine Park has long served as an urban escape for Saint Paul residents. However, the park lacked a clear plan to address capital improvement, maintenance, and operating challenges.

SUCCESS

New History worked with the Historic Irvine Park Association and the City of Saint Paul to identify the next steps in accomplishing needed park improvements and ensuring long-term maintenance. New History helped synthesize the vision and goals for the park and identify possible funding sources for achieving desired outcomes. Our work culminated in a Conceptual Roadmap with a timeline and budget for recommended next steps, charting a path towards sustaining and increasing the viability of this historic resource.
