Small preservation projects can present big challenges, given historic designation requirements and the limited financial tools available to projects under $1 million.
Challenge: To navigate a masonry restoration project in the heart of an Historic District, New History developed a historic tax credit approval strategy, assessed the masonry, defined the repair needs, developed documents for bid, and then assisted the owner with obtaining and reviewing bids. New History also completed city, state, and federal preservation applications.
Success: This award-winning project successfully utilized state and federal historic rehabilitation tax incentives and preserved the family-owned building for generations to come. Learn more about the Security Building here.
