Reactivating the downtown landmark
Positioned to be the largest historic rehabilitation tax credit in Minnesota, the Dayton's Project is the historic redevelopment of a Minneapolis landmark.
Challenge: With 1.2 million square feet of space, multiple stakeholders, and iconic design, the reactivation of the historic Dayton's Department Store is one of the largest historic redevelopment projects in the country.
Success: New History provides preservation project and funding strategies, historical research, identification of critical design issues and solutions to meet state and federal preservation design standards, and construction support. The reactivated Dayton's building will reopen in 2020. Learn more about the project here.
