The Stakes
Deferred maintenance across several affordable housing sites needed to be addressed to improve residents’ quality of life and safety. These projects were subject to two layers of historic preservation reviews, each with different timelines, reviewing agencies, and requirements. Historic preservation reviews can add time to a project schedule while creating uncertainty around construction costs.
The Outcomes
New History coordinated a strategy for sequencing the required reviews and proactively consulted with reviewing agencies on window replacement—the design item most likely to cause delays. Both review processes were completed for all three projects within four months, clearing the way for construction to move forward.
