The Stakes
Minneapolis College was gifted this 1887 landmark in 1996 but was not equipped to manage it. Moving forward required navigating state law, city landmark designation, and private development simultaneously. No single consultant could see across all three domains.
The Outcomes
With the State of Minnesota as the client, New History identified a developer, led the ownership transfer through the City of Minneapolis, and managed approvals under the Minnesota Historic Sites Act. The mansion was restored and connected to new construction, creating 80 units of downtown housing. The project received a 2023 Minneapolis Preservation Award.
